With its abundance of pubs, cocktail bars and hipster people trawling its streets (as well as that city farm), Kentish Town and its fascinating history is now buried deep within the old buildings that still remain – some of which are neglected and some of which are now snazzy shops. We love the vibes of this northwest hub, and its no surprise that it’s quickly gaining status; with it being situated within ultra cool Camden. We’ve got some of our top spots listed below to take you through.
Ladies and Gentlemen
A fairly new cocktail bar set in a very old space: an underground Victorian lavatory (that’s old toilets to you and me), which has been extensively renovated and now serves the best cocktails around. Ladies & Gentlemen is perfect for a special night out.
2 Highgate Rd, London, NW5 1NR
Bear + Wolf
This is one of the best coffee shops in London, and whether its breakfast, brunch or the sweet tooth that’s screaming out, you won’t be disappointed.
153 Fortress Road, NW5 2HR
Knowhere Special
Still fairly under the radar (get here before it turns into a super hotspot) Nowhere Special is definitely a little bit special. There’s a real creative twist to the cocktails here and the ambience is intimate and warm. Not one to miss.
296 Kentish Town Road, NW5 2TG
Owl Bookshop
Owl is more than just your ordinary independent bookshop. It’s one of those bookshops that feels more like home, that loves its community and is always wanting to provide and please. Check out their huge events list (all free entry).
207-209 Kentish Town Road, NW5 2JU
The Bengal Lancer
For some truly authentic Indian food, we recommend The Bengal Lancer (you will not be disappointed). There’s some outside-the-box options on the menu which caught our attention (crab kebab, pumpkin lamb and squid wings on the Winter menu).
253 Kentish Town Road, NW5 2JT
Anima E Cuore
Super low prices, top notch Italian food and homemade deserts all under a humble little unassuming roof. There is no emphasis on décor or fancy menus, instead the food takes precedence – do not make the mistake of walking past this place.
129 Kentish Town Road, NW1 8PB
Southampton Arms
A very straight-up, no frills kinda pub dedicated to serving beers and ciders sourced only from independent UK breweries (and a good amount of meat too, we recommend the pork baps). Handy tip – it’s cash only.
139 Highgate Road, London, NW5 1LE
SK vintage
No place in London is complete without its own vintage shop – and in Kentish Town we’re loving SK Vintage where you’ll find a treasure trove of vintage clothes and accessories as well as others bits and pieces.
51 Fortress Road, London, NW5 1AD
