You’ve picked an amazing new restaurant, got your whole gang ready and the iPhone is prepared for a photo extravaganza. Now it’s time to book a table and it’s turning out harder than one would hope.

We’ve got a few tricks up our sleeves to make it easier for you to get that elusive table and finally try it out.

Be organised.

Certain hotspots like Nobu, Sushi Samba and Chiltern Firehouse are certain to be booked up weeks in advance. Be super organised (yes, create that dreaded Whatsapp group) to settle on a date at least one month from now.

Be brutal.

It’s like The Hunger Games out there folks.

If you’re trying to bag a huge table the chances are slim that you’ll get your desired day. Group bookings are usually booked up super early. If you can, reduce your group size to as small as possible and the odds are suddenly in your favour.

Be a lunch kinda person.

There are a lot of eateries around that don’t actually take bookings such as the Soho branch of Bao.

In this instance, opt for a lunchtime date and arrive around 11 for a quicker entry. Settle down, have a drink and catch up; the time quickly passes and you’ll be glad you arrived early.
